After your personalized consultation, our trained SMILE-PRO Technician will insert a dental cheek retractor to hold open and protect the soft tissues of your mouth during the whitening procedure. A gingival barrier gel will then be applied, to your gums, this allows us to maintain efficacy with our procedure and ensure your health and safety.  Once applied to your teeth, the whitening gel will remain in place for about 15 minutes. This step will be repeated in 3 intervals to minimize sensitivity and ensure maximum results.

Since teeth are porous, the whitening gel is absorbed by the enamel and dentin layers of the tooth. The active ingredient in whitening gels is hydrogen peroxide, which removes stains and is then safely absorbed by the body.

The hydrogen peroxide acts as a catalyst for an oxidation reaction to occur and dissolves stains from the enamel and dentin layers in order to whiten the teeth. Even though the whitening gel is only on your teeth for a limited amount of time, it will remain effective for the first 24 hours after application. An LED Blue light is used during this process to improve the effectiveness of the whitening agent, allowing for a brighter and whiter smile.

On average, our treatment can lighten your smile 6-8 shades during a single whitening session.
